At the age of 19, I was hit with a huge life change at a young age. I got indicted by the F.B.I and sentenced to 108 months in Federal prison. During my incarceration, I did what I could to make use of the time I was going to be in there. I chose to not waste any time. I used every available minute to improve myself. I did nothing other than read and take every class they offered. I started to create business plan after business plan. I wanted to create an opportunity to help my loved ones who I had to leave in order to serve my sentence. That took a toll on me not being around my family. I wasnt in a relationship either when I started my time. That was also taking a toll on me. So, I decided to try to find someone. Someone I could love inspite of my situation. So, I decided to start using a penpal service to try and reach out to a woman that I could love and would love me too. It wasnt easy when I first started using penpal services. Some just took my money and never got back in contact with me. The ones that did stay in touch, took 5 weeks or more just to post my ad. Those were some terrible experiences. I kept trying though. But one day, all those experiences dissapeared. I finally met someone. We began talking, alot. We grew so close together, I proposed to her while I was still incarcerated. I never thought I would meet someone like that. When I got released to the halfway house, we got married. We recently celebrated our anniversary. I couldn’t be happier. I know you might be scared to write an inmate because honestly, you never know what to expect. I’m telling you from my experience to do it. That might be the person you marry one day. I know a lot of people think when you give an inmate your all, they dont give the same back. They act the complete opposite and go back to their old ways when they get released. I can’t speak on those situations. With my situation, I can completely, whole heartedly say I’m a changed man. For the better to say the least. I’m now a full time family man and a entrepreneur. And that’s just the beginning. I hope my story can help you make a difference in whatever decision you make.
