Hello, my name is Gary. Born and raised in sunny Southern California, I grew up with big dreams of becoming a rock guitarist. Causing harm and coming to prison were not any part of those dreams. However, here I am learning, teaching, and facilitating men's recovery groups. Addressing all the dark, uncomfortable issues that brought me to where I am today. It's been a painful, lonely and necessary journey for me to go through. Today I write Country/Blues/Rock songs with a romantic twist. During Covid I unleashed my creative spirit by playing guitar, singing and painting portraits. I also paint cosmic ocean scenes, mermaids, and nature. I've sent them to women's shelters and to donate for fundraisers, which is an amazing way to give back. I go to college and work in our air conditioning facility. I've built a great resume, so I will attain a good job when I get out. On a lighter note I have a very positive attitude and a sense of humor. I love to laugh and enjoy life. This prison is a Youth Facility now (yes, I am a youthful and fit 53 year old), and seriously, I spend a lot of time mentoring young men and helping them to re-define what it means to be a man.
